A data loss is stressful enough on its own; who gets to see your files shouldn't add to it. That's why the work stays with our own engineers from start to finish, why we're on the ICO register and meet UK data-protection law in full, and why nothing you send us is ever shipped offshore.
On the ICO register and GDPR compliant. Only our own engineers touch your drive, everything stays confidential, and once it's back with you we wipe our copy for good.
Two pieces of legislation govern how we handle your information — the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 — and we're listed on the Information Commissioner's Office register under both. Whatever personal data passes through a recovery is held securely, processed only on a lawful basis, and put to no use beyond finishing the job and getting your files back to you.
The whole recovery happens on our own bench. Plenty of outfits in this trade quietly post drives on to someone else — a wholesaler, or a lab in another country — but we don't, ever. From the day your device lands with us to the day it goes back, it never leaves the building.
Discretion is the default on every job. If you'd like an NDA in place we'll sign one at no charge, and both your files and the simple fact that you came to us stay strictly between the two of us. Anything we recover, and anything we find, goes to you alone — or to whoever you nominate, and no one else.
Where a case may end up in front of a court, an insurer or an HR panel, we can document the chain of custody so every step of how your device was handled holds up under examination. Our forensic work can be done to a court-admissible standard whenever a matter calls for it.
For as long as a job is open, your data sits in secure storage that only the engineers on that job can reach. As soon as it's finished and back with you — copied to fresh encrypted media, or delivered through a secure download — we erase our working copy. Nothing is retained afterwards.
The questions we are asked most, answered briefly.
Yes — our Information Commissioner's Office registration number is ZC173784, and you can look it up yourself at ico.org.uk. Both the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply to everything we do.
Entirely. The job stays with our own engineers, your files stay private throughout, and we're happy to put a no-cost NDA in place if you want one. Once your data is back with you, our copy is securely wiped.
No. The work is done in-house by our own team and your data stays in the UK throughout. Unlike firms that quietly farm the actual recovery out to a subcontractor, we never pass a drive to a third party or send it overseas.
Yes, and there's no charge for it. Say so before we start and we'll have an NDA signed first — it's a routine request on ransomware, forensic, legal and HR jobs.
You get your recovered files on fresh encrypted media or through a secure download, your original device comes back to you, and our working copy is then securely wiped. We hold on to nothing.
Yes. On legal, HR, insurance and forensic matters we can provide a fully documented chain of custody, and our forensic recoveries can be carried out to a court-admissible standard wherever that's needed.
Only to the extent the job demands. Verifying a recovery means opening a sample of files to prove they’re intact, and rebuilding a file system means seeing names and folder structures — but nobody browses your content beyond that. Access is limited to the engineer on your job, we’re ICO-registered (ZC173784) and GDPR-compliant, and an NDA is available on request.
A reputable lab is — the working method is the safeguard. Your media is imaged read-only and all work happens on the copy, so the original can’t be made worse, and your files stay inside one facility. Before choosing anyone, check for a verifiable physical address, a written quote before work, clear no-fix-no-fee terms, and straight answers about who actually does the work.
Sensitive company matter or irreplaceable personal files, it makes no difference — your data is in safe hands here in the UK. Begin with a free diagnostic, or get in touch to talk through an NDA.
